Landscapes
Many artists, for different reasons, enjoy landscapes. If you are a "plein ari"artist you enjoy being outdoors and, generally, completing a painting in one seating. Monica often completes landscapes in a more involved process that allows for larger size canvases.
Still Life
Still Life work generally carries significance that may not be immediately obvious to the casual viewer. Oftentimes a Still Life can tell a story. This onion, for instance is just an onion, but... not just any onion. Portraits
So far the portraits completed by Monica del Rio have been of people in her life and the works have evolved out of particularly informal moments. Although Monica does not think of herself as a "portrait artist", per se, the portraits in her portfolio are gentle, quiet and evocative of the personality involved.
Murals
Monica is presently working on several commissioned home murals. The finished result will be published on this site at their completion.
